Shop and Save (money and lives!)

As the passing of a close family friend weighs heavily on our hearts, it just has to be said: F%#^ cancer!

Too many of us have stories of loved ones affected by the disease.

The end of March will mark two years since my adorable grandmother passed away, just three short weeks after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

From Thursday, March 17th - Sunday March 20th use the GAP coupon below at all Gap stores in the U.S and Canada, including Gap, Gap Outlet, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory Stores, and Old Navy, to get 30% off your in-store purchases, while 5% of the purchase goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Use THIS COUPON and spread the word.

Help Haiti

The devastating January 12 earthquake in Haiti will require lasting attention emotionally, logistically, and financially. If you haven't yet donated, or are looking for another way to help, the fashion industry has something to offer.

Jeweler Judith Kupperman, a Wayuú Tayá Foundation board member, has designed the "Help Haiti Hope" necklace/bracelet. Meant to serve as a "symbol of hope," the piece is a letter H pendant in a gold finish on a green silk strand, or a silver finish on a brown silk strand, that can be worn 2 ways.

The Help Haiti Hope symbol is available for $10 at helphaitihope.org (75% will go toward helping children in Haiti, the other 25% goes toward production, shipping and handling costs only).

Here are some staggering numbers about the Haitian survivors, reported on CNN.com (see more here):
300,000: Children younger than 2 who need nutritional support
90: Percentage of schools in Port-au-Prince that have been destroyed
497: Haitian orphans who have been evacuated

For other fashion-related ways to help, see the Associated Content's article here.

A Gift That Gives Back

Thanks to a great segment on Live with Regis and Kelly, I was introduced to these funky, fashion forward bracelets that give gift giving a new meaning.

The Feed 5 Bracelet ($15) is an affordable, on-trend bracelet made out of corn-based plastic. The really amazing part? The purchase of one bracelet provides FIVE meals for children in developing countries.

Flip Fashion

"Love is real, spread it." With a motto like that, it's no surprise that the designer behind Puja, an L.A. based line of jewelry, is a darling guy named Joshua.

Joshua with his jewelry line, Puja

I met the young designer on Friday at one of dozens of Fashion Week festivities, at the "Flip Fashion Not Humanity" Charity Sales Event (10% of all sales donated to Keep A Child Alive) at Bar Marmont.

Inspired by his half-Indian heritage, Joshua brings his designs to life in Delhi, India. Some of his designs incorporate traditional Indian enamel, but with a new twist -- instead of intricate work with many colors, in Puja we see solid, bright, bold colors -- perfect for the return of 80's fashion.

All the jewelry is unisex, and I adored the harness I tried on (which I didn't get a photo of - aah!).
